Empowerment Through Partnership: Cycle Specialists & Team Siata

As part of our Kit & Kin Development Programme and Empowerment Initiative, Cycle Specialists have played an instrumental role in Team Siata’s ongoing success, offering unwavering support and meaningful contributions in multiple ways.

Our athletes regularly visit the Cycle Specialists workshop to gain hands-on experience and learn essential mechanical skills, including basic repairs for various types of bicycles. Under the guidance of experienced technicians, they actively assist in assembling and repairing bikes, reinforcing both practical knowledge and confidence.

This partnership is rooted in a shared vision: empowering the black child with critical life skills and foundational knowledge that extend beyond sport.

Mr. Neil Abbott, owner of Cycle Specialists and a former top champion cyclist in KwaZulu-Natal, has gone a step further by developing a dedicated school holiday programme for our athletes. He has generously opened his doors to provide leadership and mentorship opportunities through the world of cycling.

Cycle Specialists has also consistently supported our team by sponsoring equipment and providing access to professional-grade cycling gear. Thanks to this invaluable support, we can proudly say that our athletes now possess the skills and confidence to maintain and repair their own bicycles—an essential step toward independence and self-empowerment.
